Organizing a Club

< Back | Home : Pilot >> Organizing a Club

Organizing A Pilot Club is as Easy as...

  1. Choose an area in which to organize a Pilot Club.
    • Find a community that would benefit from the work of Pilot. Pilot communities range in size from 5,000 to over 6 million. Often, more than one Pilot club exists in an area, especially in a large metropolitan location.
  2. Good TimesCompile a list of potential members.
    • Use the city and telephone directories and a list of local businesses obtained from the Chamber of Commerce to compile a list of executive, business and professional leaders in the community. Also watch the local newspapers and note the volunteers and business leaders in the community. Don't forget your friends, relatives or business contacts in the proposed area.
  3. Planning a Pilot Information Meeting and Inviting Potential Members.
    • The Pilot Information Meeting will be the opportunity to introduce prospective members to Pilot, including the values and benefits of membership. Talk about service projects, share Pilot's accomplishments, and discuss Pilot International's focus on brain-related disorders.
  4. Invite those interested in joining Pilot to complete a membership form, and send it to PI Headquarters.
    • It only takes 20 people to charter a club. When 20 membership forms are received in Headquarters, the club will be official and a charter will be issued.
