Service with a Sunshine SmileThe founding of Japan's first Pilot Club took place in 1951, in Tokyo. Today, Japan is home to 54 Pilot Clubs, with a combined membership of approximately 980. The members work together to improve the quality of life in their communities by sponsoring worthwhile service projects and fund-raisers.

In support of Pilot's service focus, many of the clubs' projects benefit people with brain-related disorders and disabilities. One of the district's most successful projects is its Pilot Walk, held annually to raise funds to support research grants for the prevention and cure of Alzheimer's and other brain-related disorders.

Other projects include charity concerts, golf tournaments, and working with people who have physical and mental disabilities.
